Reed Business Consultants was founded in 2008 by Paul Smit, a seasoned professional with decades of experience in the financial and insurance sectors. Paul’s career began in 1994 in the short-term insurance industry with FGI, which later became FEDSURE. In 2000, he ventured to London, where he worked with several leading insurers while completing his Fellowship in Short-Term Insurance and his accounting degree.
After gaining valuable international experience, Paul joined the Treasury Solicitors Department in London before returning to Namibia in 2003 to establish Paul Smit Insurance Brokers. Building on his expertise and entrepreneurial drive, Paul launched Reed Business Consultants in 2008.
Starting his journey as a general Business Accountant, Paul continued to expand his professional credentials and expertise. In February 2026, he obtained his Chartered status through the Chartered Institute for Business Accountants (CIBA) and successfully qualified as a Chartered Business Accountant in Practice - CBAP(SA).
